Co-Chair Andrea Orfanoz-Cheuquelaf
Andrea is a PhD candidate at the University of Bremen, Germany. She works in retrieving, validating, and analysing total and tropospheric ozone from satellite instruments. She’s part of the steering committee of the Latin America Early Career Earth System Scientist Network (LAECESS). Andrea has been attending the IGAC conferences since the 2014 conference in Natal.
Co-Chair Frederick Otu-Larbi
Frederick Otu-Larbi is a postdoctoral research associate at the lancaster environment centre in the UK. He applies models to study how environmental conditions such as droughts and heatwaves affect forest growth and the ability of trees to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmopshere. He was part of the organisers of the Early Career Program for IGAC2020 and intends to use his experience to facilitate an enjoyable conference for all early career attendees at IGAC2022.
Simone Andersen
Simone is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of York, where she investigates sources and sinks of nitrogen oxides in the remote oceanic atmosphere. She uses long-term measurements from the Cape Verde Atmospheric Observatory and airborne measurements over the North Atlantic Ocean.
Madina Doumbia
Madina is a Lecturer-Researcher in the Department of Mathematics-Physics-Chemistry, at University Péléforo GON COULIBALY, Korhogo, in North of Côte d’Ivoire (CI). She is working in atmospheric sciences, and enjoy using her skills to contribute to air pollution science and its impacts. Madina is a member of several scientific and social organization and she is contributing as author African Assessment of Air Pollution and Climate Change. Madina hopes to bring her knowledge as well as her experience from other conferences to help make this early career programme a great success.
Jhonathan Ramirez Gamboa
Jhonathan’s work focuses on Biogenic VOCs using a mix of measurements and modelling techniques to improve our understanding of BVOC role in atmospheric chemistry over Australia. Jhonathan hopes to bring his experience from previous conferences to help IGAC early career program a constructive experience for everyone, while gaining experience in the organising the event.
Haseeb Hakkim
Haseeb Hakkim is an atmospheric chemist with an analytical chemistry background. Currently, he is employed as a postdoctoral research associate at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali (IISER-M), India. He completed his Ph.D. at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, IISER-M in 2021. His postgraduate research included developing emission inventories to determine the extent to which major emission sources contribute to ambient air pollution and evaluating future emission scenarios to determine the effectiveness of mitigation measures to control air quality levels. His current research focuses on identifying different sources and sinks of reactive volatile organic compounds and greenhouse gases, as well as source apportionment of air pollutants, with the goal of improving our current understanding of emissions and air quality in the Indian region.
Danitza Klopper
Danitza Klopper is a geographer, specialising in atmospheric science and environmental management. As part of her PhD research project, which she completed in 2020, she worked with several interdisciplinary science teams to collect, process and analyse in-situ and remotely sensed atmospheric aerosol and meteorological data to answer questions about aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions over the Namibian coast. Danitza works well in inter-disciplinary teams and takes a holistic approach to problem solving in the broader field of geography, where she considers the interconnected nature of the environment, economy and social structures at play. In terms of independent research in the field of geography, her experience covers the following topics: air quality, meteorology and atmospheric science studies, environmental legislative frameworks regarding abandoned mines, and the viability of urban developments on the footprints of re-mined gold tailings storage facilities.
Emily Matthews
Emily is a PhD student at the University of Manchester and her research primarily focuses on the analysis of chemical ionisation mass spectrometer (CIMS) measurements made onboard the UK research aircraft. Her research interests lie in the marine sulphur and reduced nitrogen cycles. Emily is looking forward to meeting Early Career Scientists and welcoming the IGAC community to Manchester.
Behrooz Roozitalab
After receiving his BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Shiraz University, Behrooz Roozitalab focused on environmental issues, specifically, Air Quality, for my Master studies at University of Tehran. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Chemical and Biochemical and Environmental Engineering at University of Iowa. He is interested in studying the links between atmospheric chemistry, air quality, climate change, and health impacts using regional and global chemical transport models.
